What is PMS Exam in Pakistan:
PMS stands for Provincial Management Service. PMS is a competitive examination and administered by the provincial government of Pakistan through PPSC, SPSC, BPSC, KPSC, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Commission. The applicant must complete this PMS test, including written tests, psychological test, and interview. PMS vacancies are valid for Punjab Province. The PMS test has been held for more than two years. A candidate who passes the PMS exams can get a government job as an officer of the first class (Class 17). A candidate who passes this exam is called a PMS employee.
Introduction to PMS:
Provincial Management Service - PMS is a public service. PMS appeared on 17 January 2014 in Punjab Province after notification of S & GAD, Government of Punjab - Pakistan. In Pakistan, it was created by provincial governments in an effort to improve the service structure of the bureaucracy in the provinces. Although the federal bureaucracy, especially the Pakistan Administrative Service (former District Administration Group/DMG) largely controls the provincial administration in Punjab and other provinces, the staff of the Provincial Administration Service have also taken a large share of positions in Punjab.
District Administration Service - The PMS consists of civil servants hired directly in the 17th grade based on competitive examinations administered by the District Public Service Commission. PMS officers assigned to Scale-17 are promoted to Scale-18, Scale-19, and Scale-20 according to published rules of service, called PMS Rules, 2004. Typically, PMS officers are appointed as department chief, assistant commissioner, judge, deputy secretary, Additional Secretary, DCO, General Manager, Commissioner, Secretary or any other equivalent position in their category. PMS officers are an important unit in the district's top-level bureaucracy and perform their duties in important positions at the Tehsil, district, department and district levels.
PCS stands for Provincial Civil Service and PMS stands for Provincial Administration Service. Both are identical because the PCS service is integrated with the PMS service. PCS had two tiers, PCS-Executive and Regional Secretariat Service (PSS). Like PMS officers, PCS officers are recruited through competitive examinations by the Public Service Commission. Those with the highest merit chose the PCS-Executive Director, while the remainder joined the secretarial service. In 2004, these two groups (PCS-Exe and PSS) were merged under the banner of the Provincial Management Service (PMS), which includes all positions previously held by PCS and PSS officers. In addition, the number of jobs for the performance management system staff has been increased.
